What: York Dungeon is an exhibition of gruesome and macabre events dating back as far as the Dark Ages. It brings certain gruesome events from the last 2,000 years vividly back to life ....or rather, mostly death.
The York Dungeon can best be described as a museum of simulated historical horror, bringing gruesome events or atrocities from the past back to life. It has a wide variety of attractions, with over forty exhibits including up to date multi media displays. You will follow Dick Turpin (the famous highwayman who was born in York) to the gallows and encounter the ghostly Lost Roman Legion.
Not recommended for the nervous or for very young children. Children must be accompanied.
